PortfolioFrom the nuanced subtleties of intimate dramas to the high-energy spectacle of arena concerts, his designs shape atmosphere, emotion, and audience experience.
Deeply influenced by the mentorship he received throughout his career, Jason is passionate about nurturing the next generation of designers. His commitment to arts education has led him to teach at institutions including SUNY Purchase, The College of Charleston, and Emerson College, and to develop innovative learning environments that bridge professional practice and creative leadership, including a residency for Title I students exploring storytelling through design.
He is the founder of Designing Stories, an educational and mentorship platform dedicated to helping artists build meaningful, sustainable, and collaborative creative careers, offering courses, community, and mentorship that empower designers to think critically, communicate clearly, and lead with empathy.
Beyond academia, Jason is an active voice in the industry, frequently speaking on panels, leading master classes, and advocating for the evolution of theatrical design education. He also serves as Artistic Director of the Bakowski Bridge of Lights in Shreveport, Louisiana, a public art installation celebrating light as a communal and expressive medium, where Certified Student Designers express themselves through the medium of light.
As a designer, educator, mentor, and founder, Jason continues to explore the intersection of light, narrative, and collaboration, inspiring emerging artists to push creative boundaries and shape the future of the field. He is presently devoted to fostering exceptional collaborations and pursuing artistic endeavors that captivate, stimulate, and encourage individuals to engage in introspection.
